Chaircast

Chaircast

Dear readers, IM GOING TO MAKE A SCULPTED ROCKER!
I ask that you please excuse my yelling. Im excited.

The May 2015 Guild Build: The Sculpted Rocker

As a long time member of The Wood Whisperer Guild, I was very excited when I saw that the spring project was a sculpted rocker. +Marc Spagnuolo has teamed up with Sculpted Rocker extraordinaire Charles Brock for this build. +Charles Brock is an expert teacher, and with Marc building on his foundation, this should be an amazing build.

While I think the Sculpted Rocker is a bit above my current skill level, Im not a virgin to making sculpted wooden furniture. The sculpted rocker has been on my list of Must Builds since my obsession with chairs began a few years ago.

My latest sculpted piece, Lills Quilt Rack.

As part of the Sculpted Rocker build, Im starting a new venture: Chaircast.

Chaircast will be an audio diary of my journey through the chair build. While I ultimately expect an outcome I can be proud of, Im sure that the path will be long and hard. Ill learn a lot and probably make plenty of mistakes.

With Chaircast I plan to record my progress as I go. Ill share what Im doing, whats working, whats not and what Im learning. Im hoping it provides a more personal narrative than I could provide with just this blog (which will also continue).

You can listen to the introductory installment via the embedded player here.

You can also check out my Soundcloud page, where Chaircast will be hosted. And finally, if youre really into it, you can subscribe to Chaircast via the Chaircast RSS feed. Just import it into the podcast app of your choice (I use Pocket Casts) to subscribe.

Dont forget about the +Modern Woodworkers Association Podcast. We talk woodworking with Guests from around the world of woodworking every other week. Subscribe to the RSS feed or iTunes today.
